Roberto Elinan, an all breed FCI judge, has agreed to be our judge at Silkenfest 2008. He has judged Silkens at Rarities shows, including a specialty. He truly loves our breed and knows our standard well, having
watched our development for a while now with much interest. He is thrilled and honored to have been asked to judge our national specialty and has offered to do so with no fee, just expenses paid.

January 22 - Reservation Procedure for Lodging at KMR

To reserve a room(s) based on double occupancy, each person responsible for paying for their party will send a deposit in the form of either a check or money order made out to ISWS to Alison Brendel for the amount of 120.00 for each adult and 100.00 for youth.

Mail to:
Alison Brendel
3803 S. Terwilliger Rd. PR SE
Benton City, WA 99320

If you want to send with tracking confirmation (using fedex, dhl, etc.), then please contact Alison before sending for a daytime address where it can be signed for.

If you want to use a credit card, you can send via Paypal to: iswstreasurer @ yahoo.com (remove spaces) please note that you will need to add 3% to cover the paypal transaction fees ($124.00).

Ann Steele as agreed to handle the booking list and track the payments to Alison. So please email your name, address, phone number and number of persons in your party to ann @ sciroccohounds.com (remove spaces)

Each Lodge building has 3 floors, so if you have problems with stairs, please give your preference. The Parkview Lodge has 12 rooms with a mix of either 2 double beds or 1 Kingsize. Most rooms can connect to another. Haystack Lodge has 22 rooms with similar mix of 2 double and 1 kingsize beds. King House has three floors, each floor has 1 shared bath. There's a full size kitchen, Living Room with Fireplace, and private laundry room. King house has 8 rooms. Lower and middle floor have 1 Queen or 1 King bed. Top floor has 2 rooms, 1 with 5 double beds and 1 with 1 double bed.

Roll-away beds are available, but suited for children only.

We need to ensure that before April 1st we have assurance of 75 persons reserved as that's our bail-out day for getting all our deposit monies back from KMR. If we meet that requirement, the booking list will be sent to KMR.

Once you arrive at KMR, you will check-in with credit card and become responsible for the remainder (less your deposit) of the 4 evenings of lodging plus any incidentals. If you wish to arrive on Tuesday (1 day early), please let Ann know that in your booking request. Any days later than our event schedule are between you and KMR space available.

Please note that you may be responsible for a minimum dog damage fee of $200 for any sleeping room due at checkout. Rooms will be checked by KMR staff.

If you are needing a roomate, please post to the windhounds list.

January 22 - Health and Microchip Clinics

Susan Godfrey is working to get health clinics set up this year. Testing will be done on Thursday, June 5. Currently she needs those folks interested in getting their dogs tested to email her the name of their dog and the tests desired (CERF, OFA Thyroid, and OFA Cardiac) so that she can get an idea of the number of participants in order to secure veterinarians and negotiate testing prices.

AVID Microchips will also be available for those who wish to get their dogs chipped at SF. Contact Susan for more details.

January 2 - Logo Contest

The SilkenFest Committee is looking for a logo for this year's SF in the beautiful Colorado Rockies.

Your logo needs to include the following information:

    1. SilkenFest 2008
    2. Granby, Colorado

Please send images in JPEG or Photoshop format to bunnydeis@yahoo.com before February 1st.  We will then call a group vote on your submissions the first week in February.

Location is booked!

Posted by Rick Steele:

After some weeks of negotiating with KMR and getting the ISWS board approval, I have signed the agreement between ISWS and King Mountain Ranch. Our treasurer has mailed off the first required deposit.

The location is King Mountain Ranch Resort in Granby, Colorado. Please visit their website: http://www.kingmountainranch.com/

The dates booked are Wed June 4th thru Sunday June 8th, 2008.

Group Pricing is $100 per person per night for adults and $85 for youth (ages 4-12). This assumes at least double occupancy of the lodge rooms. What's included for the price is lodging, three quality meals per day, and use of the Ranch grounds for our venues.

The Silkenfest 2008 committee has a draft agenda and more information will be passed along as soon as it's available. The big hurdle of getting the location reserved has been done.

More to come soon!

Rick Steele
