After a long search for a second breed to join her kennel, Francie Stull found none that met her qualifications. Through her magazine, The Sighthound, she found a multi-generational line of lurchers that piqued her interest.
While the lurchers were cute, they lacked the major traits and structural soundness that would be needed for a new breed. Francie began planning to cross in specimens of her top award-winning Borzois and judicious, rare out-crosses to Whippets.
The first generation of this project was whelped in 1985 (the Kristull "D" litter), and in 1987 one of the "Silken Windsprites," as they were called at the time, left Kristull Ranch for a new home.
