Silken Windhounds are known for their friendly dispositions and make excellent family pets. They are happiest when sharing family activities. They are easily trainable and eager to please. Like other sighthounds, Silken Windhounds need room to run and exercise daily, but inside they are normally quiet and well-behaved. They require little grooming and are naturally clean and tidy.
Silken Windhounds are incredibly versatile dogs who can excel at a variety of sports and activities. As sighthounds, the most popular sports outside of conformation are running sports such as lure coursing and racing, but many silkens also compete in agility, obedience, therapy work, and scent work.
The primary goal of ISWS is to protect and advance the purebred Silken Windhound dogs, to protect the interests of its members, and to educate its members in the areas of breeding, exhibiting, and maintaining the health and purity of the Silken Windhound breed.
