Oval Racing
The success of the ISWS straight racing program and its growing coursing program encouraged the ISWS to bring oval racing to the Silken Windhound breed. Sighthounds have been participating in oval racing for many years under the auspices of the National Oval Track Racing Association (NOTRA). The ISWS oval racing rules followed NOTRA rules.
The inaugural oval meet was held in November 2008 in northern California at an RCRA (River City Racing Association) meet. Many thanks go to those clubs who allowed Silken Windhound meets in conjunction with their NOTRA meets.
In 2013, Silken Windhounds that are registered with the UKC are able to enter NOTRA oval track race meets as a provisional breed. NOTRA approved full status for Silken Windhounds at the end of the year 2013.
